Rose Cottage Cafe sits quietly on High Street in Presteigne, offering a warm, welcoming spot to pause during a day of errands or exploring this small border town. More than just a place to grab coffee, it’s clear from the way locals return — sometimes traveling from nearby towns — that the cafe has earned its place as part of the community fabric.

The cafe has a cozy interior that feels thoughtfully maintained, with an added garden area that invites a breath of fresh air when the weather allows. This outdoor space lends itself well to casual visits during milder days, making it a comfortable option for both quick stops and lingering chat sessions over drinks and bites.

Visitors can expect service that moves efficiently yet maintains a friendly tone, striking a balance that suits both rushed mornings and relaxed afternoons. The coffee arrives promptly and is noted for quality, often paired with cakes or hot, homemade-style soups that speak to a kitchen focused on comfort and care rather than flashy trends.

Because the cafe also doubles as a trusted caterer for local occasions — from anniversaries to special events — the food reflects thoughtful preparation and a consistent standard. Pricing feels reasonable and accessible, which pairs well with the approachable vibe of the place.

This is a spot well suited to a wide range of visitors: locals popping in for a reliable, hearty snack; visitors seeking a quiet nook with a little local flavor; and soon-to-be residents scouting the town over a warming cup. Early afternoons and weekends seem lively yet restrained, making it a dependable refuge on a wet morning or a restful break in otherwise busy days.

This is our second trip to Rose Cottage, and we made a special trip from Worcester to return as we found the food excellent. This time it was coffee and cake and this was again of excellent quickly and you can see that the food is prepared with loving care the cafe it self is lovely inside and well cared for and added garden space makes this cafe a welcoming place to eat and chill with friends

Excellent food and v reasonably priced. We asked Lesley to do the catering for our Ruby anniversary. We were over the moon with the wide range of savoury and sweet selection. Can’t praise Lesley enough for her dedication to good quality food and service. Thank you so much for making our day so special

A very wet Saturday morning when we entered with raincoats, umbrellas and shoes all dripping. The warmth of the welcome was only matched by the efficient request for our order. There was rapid delivery of our coffee order followed by delicious and piping hot soups, crisps, salad and panini. All was served in an appropriately friendly yet professional manner. It gladdens the heart that despite the gloomy reporting in general of our High Streets that some insightful businesses continue to understand that customer service and value for money are still the key ingredients for retail success. I most definitely recommend.

What a gem. This was our very first transaction in Presteigne. My wife and I stopped off for a hot drink before making the big decision on our new home. The experience here just reinforced that we have chosen the right small town to retire and grow old in. We agreed the offer on our new home an hour after we left and will be part of this community in a few short weeks. The hot chocolate was outstanding and the sandwich served was scrumptious with all the garnish and extras you would expect from a quality bijou eatery. The hospitality was more than delightful despite the fact that they are clearly popular and were very busy. I think we’ve found our regular stopover when we pop into town on the very first visit! Can’t wait to get to know you folks better and become regulars. Thank you for helping complete strangers feel that they’d come home. See you again on move in day!

We had a delicious lunch today (lasagne for me and liver and bacon with mash for my husband). It was delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly.

Beautiful little cafe with garden. Lovely selection of lunches including roasted vegetable platter & a fish platter. Ingredients sourced locally. Well priced & gorgeous little shop at the front with unique gifts & cards which were also very reasonably priced. Friendly staff added to the lovely ambience & there was a good selection of cakes. Everything is made to order so don't arrive in a rush when they're busy, but I much prefer waiting a few mins to eating pre-prepared food. Definitely recommend a visit
